Scouts Journey to the Jamboree
A local Scout from Farnsfield has been selected to take part in the 25th World Scout Jamboree in South Korea next summer. In August 2023, Grace along with 40,000 Scouts from nearly 200 nations, will participate in an array of exciting, adventurous activities, with themes of cultural understanding, teamwork and friendship.
It was a tough selection day which Grace had to attend along with 200 other Scouts from all over Nottinghamshire. They participated in activities, ranging from piecing together a Lego set without seeing the instructions, to assembling structures out of wooden poles. This was an enjoyable day, and Grace was thoroughly surprised when she found out that she was one of 36 Scouts chosen from Nottinghamshire to embark on this amazing once in lifetime adventure!
Grace, 12, said “It is a real honour to have been chosen to take part in such a life changing event, and I’m unimaginably grateful to the Scouts for this opportunity.”
In order to go Grace needs to raise over £3000. Not only does this money contribute to her going, but it also goes towards helping young people from less developed countries to attend. Look out for Graces fundraising events or pop along to her a tuck shop ran with her sister, Hannah. They have raised over £150 so far from the tuck shop! (It is really useful that they live close to a school!)
