Scouts Art Challenge

Date: 29th Nov 2016 Author: Scout Websites

As 2016 draws to a close the young people of Farnsfield Scout Group continue to enjoy a varied programme. The Scout section (age 10½ to 14) have been working towards their artist activity badge where a local artist has been guiding them through drawing different scenes from simple leaf drawings all the way through to full landscapes including the ‘Super Moon’ which appeared recently. All the paintings are being displayed in the headquarters for all parents and supporters to view.

Our Cub section are heading towards the end of their 100th year anniversary and to celebrate have recently visited Planet Bounce in Nottingham. Twenty members of the section spent an hour flying across fifty inter-connected trampolines. It was a brilliant finish to a jam packed year of adevnture. Thank you to the parents and adults that helped support the night.

Over the last month our Beaver section has been completing it’s World Faith Badge. They joined Canon Peter Jones to have a guided tour around St Michaels and All Angels Church. He explained all the different parts of the church and what they were used for, including all about the special clothes Peter wears and the history behind them.

Thanks to all the adults that have helped make 2016 such a great year! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from 1st Farnsfield Scout Group.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
