Young people and adults of 1st Farnsfield Scout Group are celebrating this month after receiving a grant of £420 from local business, Mansfield Building Society.

Over the past two years Farnsfield Scouts has trippled in size and was in desperate need of refreshing its camping equipment to meet the needs of young people it serves from Farnsfield and the surrounding villages. The group will use the money to buy three new tents which will help the Cubs celebrate the centenary of the section.

Richard Sneade, Cub leader at the group, said: “The support from The Mansfield is amazing. We have three large new tents which means more young people can experience their first night away in a tent!”.

“We thank the Mansfield Building Society for making this possible in granting the generous amount from their Community Support Scheme.”

The Mansfield Building Scoiety Community Support Scheme was launched in early 2008 and is designed to help a wide range of groups that do their bit to help local people. The Scheme supports groups within Nottinghamshire or Derbyshire that are in need of financial assistance to help with their objectives.

Carole Dallison, Assistant Manager of The Mansfield’s Sutton and Kirkby branches said “We are delighted to be helping this local group because it is providing lifelong skills as well as adventurous activities for young people in a safe environment.”
