Explorer Scouts (Fortis)

Explorers is the fifth section of the Scouting family aged between 14 to 18. The programme is created by young people working in partnership with adults and is a lot more relaxed to fit the age range (and exam periods!).

Explorers are a go-getting group of young people aged 14 to 18. Together, they make up the fifth section of the Scouts. Week in and week out, they gather in groups called Units to try new things, make new friends and conquer the small task of changing the world.

Semper Fortis Explorers (or Fortis Explorers) meet every week during school term time. Chosen by the young people the unit is named Fortis which means ‘Strong’ in latin. Semper Fortis is ‘Always Strong’.

In between this as young leaders they help out in other sections towards their Explorer or Duke of Edinburgh awards. They enjoy all that Scouting has to offer! Take a look at a little video of what they get up to or go to the Getting Started bit to find out what you can do.

The Explorer Unit is the final and young person section of the Scout Group. Explorers are young people aged between 14 and 18 years old. There is core flexibility in the age range: young people can join from 13½ and 14½ and must leave at 18 years old

We have one Explorer Unit which meet each Monday during school term time but this varies depending on the programme. They meet at Farnsfield Village Centre, New Hill, Farnsfield, Newark, Nottinghamshire. NG22 8JN.

Mondays 7.30pm-9.00pm – Explorer Leader Mark Williams and Assistant Sarah Windibank, Richard Sneade and Chris Ackerman.
