Before entering The Scout Hut please read the rules below. The room will only be open if a leader has unlocked it. You will enter a waiting room first and can only enter the room if a leader is happy you are allowed to enter. Anyone not adhering to the rules will be removed from the room. Please remember you will go on initially go on mute and video sharing is mandatory.

How to Join

It is really simple. Once you have joined for the first time Just navigate to www.1stfarnsfield.org.uk/TheScoutHut (this page) and click on the RED button. Zoom will then load.

Please remember before entering the room you will need to read the rules below, enter your full name, have video switched on and audio unmuted. You will enter the waiting room first before leaders allow you in. When you first enter the room you will have been muted.

Requirements

You can join The Scout from your laptop, desktop, tablet or mobile phone. There is really every possibility to join. We do require you have a webcam and audio. For better audio it is worth having a headset but this is not necessary. If you are joining from your PC then you will need to install a little video conferencing application. Our provider is Zoom.

Joining for the First Time

Please test joining for the first time so that it is easy when really needing to join. Follow the following steps. Once you have followed the instructions below you can test it by clicking here.

On PC:-

1. Click one of the RED buttons on this page. This will take you to the Zoom Video Conferencing website. You will be prompted to download the Zoom Video Conferencing application
2. Once downloaded click to install it. You may need your parents at this point.
3. Follow the instructions to install the application. If your name is required then please enter your full name
4. When you want to join The Scout Hut navigate to this webpage and click the RED button. Enter your full name and click Join
5. You will enter the waiting room until one of the Leaders lets you in. To speed up getting in then please add your name.

On Amazon Fire Tablet or Android Tablet/Mobile:-

1. Go to the Amazon AppStore and search for Zoom
2. Install the Zoom app. You may need your parents to help with this.
3. Once installed you are all setup. When you want to join The Scout Hut navigate to this webpage and click the RED button.
4. Enter your full name and click Join
5. You will enter the waiting room until one of the Leaders lets you in. To speed up getting in then please add your name

On iPad or Apple Computer:-

1. Go to the Apple Store and download the following app here
2. Install the Zoom app. You may need your parents to help with this.
3. Once installed you are all setup. When you want to join The Scout Hut navigate to this webpage and click the RED button.
4. Enter your full name and click Join
5. You will enter the waiting room until one of the Leaders lets you in. To speed up getting in then please add your name

Simple Rules

The following rules are to ensure we all stay safe online, accept people’s differences and have fun. If the host deems you not to follow these rules you will be asked to leave.

1. Adhere to Scouting Values – all conduct must be within our Scouting values and groups code of conduct
2. Real Name – to help identify you we ask you use your real name when joining
3. Suitable Location – we ask you find a suitable location in reach of an adult. We do not recommend a bedroom unless the door is open.
4. Video Sharing On –  video sharing must be turned on to ensure we know who you are
5. Dress Appropriately – make sure you and the people around you are dressed appropriately
6. Language – please follow the Scouting code of conduct. Anything said can be heard by participants and the people in the room they are sitting in. The Host may mute you if others can’t be heard.
7. Private Chats – all chats are public. We do not allow any private chats unless from the Host.
8. Adult Supervision – for Beavers and Cubs we advise an adult is with them in the room or even sat with them if they are unsure
