Our World Faith Badge
Over the last month our Beaver and Cubs sections (aged 6 to 10½) have been exploring celebrations, beliefs and customs as part of their World Faith Badge.
Towards the end of October the youngest section, Beavers, had a guided tour around St Michaels and All Angels Church. Canon Peter Jones explained all the different parts of the church and what they were used for from the naval to transepts and the font. They also learnt about the clothes Peter wears and the history behind them. The twenty young people all enjoyed the night. Thank you to all for such a great night.
The Cub section have been learning about India particularly Diwali. As part of the Our World Challenge Award and World Faith Badges this term, the Cubs have been exploring other cultures and faiths. The cub pack have been learning about India: sharing what they knew about the country, their customs, religions, music and food. This lead to a final week before half term learning how to perform Kathak dancing courtesy of the Manushi Dance School.
The Scouts this term have been working towards their art activity badge. A local artist has been guiding them through drawing different scenes from simple leaf drawings all the way through to full landscapes including the ‘Super Moon’ which appeared recently. Check out our Facebook page ‘1st Farnsfield Scout Group’ to see some of the amazing pictures.
