A Super Smashing Great Year at Farnsfield Scouts

Date: 1st Sep 2016 Author: Scout Websites

THE Scout Group is just returning from its summer break. We welcome new and old faces to the group again this term with a fun packed run upto Christmas. The Beavers are off on a 30th Birthday Party Bonanza at the being inning of October, Cubs are heading down to London for an adventure around the Science and History Museums and Scouts look forward to finishing their Master at Arms badge by doing Archery.

At the end of the summer term we celebrated our young people’s achievements with our annual review. This is where the young people of the group received awards for their achievements plus recognition to our volunteers. This year was summarised by Super Smashing Great! To top it all off two of our adults received national awards for long service amassing 10 years of volunteering to help Farnsfield young people between them – simply amazing!

At the end of the summer term 20 Scouts endured a survival weekend camp near Ravenshead. In between the rain the Scouts started by a small hike to their camp, learnt axe and knife work, took part in building and sleeping a shelter making a giant and to top the weekend finished cooking their meals for their 24 hour challenge. It was a great weekend and thank you to the young and adult volunteers who made the weekend so brilliant.

Are you aged 14 to 18 and want to tackle some adventurous activities? Get involved please contact Chris Blockley on 07779324341 or email join@1stfarnsfield.org.uk if you can help.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
