Super Satellites at Scouts

Date: 1st Feb 2017 Author: Scout Websites

Since the start of term the Scout section (aged 10½ to 14) have been working towards their astronautics activity badge. The badge is designed by the UK Space Agency and is all about exploration, experiments and building your own satellite. During this term the Scouts have put their hand to building their own satellite. They then discussed the advantages of the satellites and which would work best in space. Congratulations to Sam who was chosen to have the best satellite.

In our other three sections this term the two Beaver colonies (aged 6 to 8) have been learning about communication and also creating their own Chinese New Year dragons. Thanks to Faye Asher-Hibbett for sewing it all together. It was amazing! Coming up the Beavers have a trip to Pets At Home and our new colony St Michaels Church. The Cub pack (aged 8 to 10½) have been finishing their fire safety badge where they took a visit to Southwell Fire Station.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
