Splashing Good Fun

Date: 29th Aug 2016 Author: Scout Websites

August sees the only month of the year where Scouting slows down for a well earned rest, hopefully some sun and maybe a trip away to relax.

Before the summer August break, Farnsfield Cubs visited The Mill Adventure Base situated at Kings Mill Reservoir, Sutton In Ashfield. 20 young people and adults took part in two hours of wet and wild activity rowing canoes around the lake. The sun made the night even better and meant a little splash was in order to finish the night. Thank you to all the staff at The Mill Adventure Base who made the evening such a great night.

The Cub section (age 8 to 10½) are now preparing for their next adventure to London where they will visit both the Natural History Museum and the Science Museum in one day. They will be joined by thousands of other cubs across Nottinghamshire as part of their 100th birthday year!

Looking ahead to the scout group returning after the summer holidays we have a busy autumn term a 30 year anniversay activity day for our youngest section (Beavers), a weekend away and also our annual fundraising night which this year is a BIG Quiz.

Farnsfield Scout Group continues to offer young people everyday adventure but we can’t do this without adult volunteers. We’re looking for new helpers to support new sections. If you think you can help visit 1stfarnsfield.org.uk/volunteer to see what role might suit you.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
