S’more Adventure for Farnsfield Beavers

Date: 1st Oct 2016 Author: Scout Websites

This month the Beavers have been very busy! They’ve been celebrating the 30th anniversary of the section since it’s creation. On Saturday 1st October fifteen young people and adults from Farnsfield Beavers took a trip up the road to Sherbrooke Scout Campsite in Calverton to join 600 other Beavers, aged 6 to 8, in a fun packed day of adventure to celebrate the birthday.

The activity day on the outskirts of Calverton focused on fun activities, adventures and challenges. This included toasted marshmallows and making s’mores on open fires, deciphering semaphore messages, scaling a giant pioneering tower, traversing an adventure wall, walking a blind trail, and taking part in drumming workshops.

There were plenty of other activities to keep the Beavers busy too, including: caving, hunting for mini-beasts and tracking with iPads, go-karting, biscuit making, funfair stalls, inflatable obstacle courses and liquorice knot tying.

The weather stayed great for the whole day and was a real hit with the Beavers. It only rained as the Beavers left for home!

Thank you to the adults who organised a great day.

Beavers is open to young people aged 6 to 8 years old. If you would like to join the fun and adventure please contact Chris on 07779324341 or email join@1stfarnsfield.org.uk.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
