Scouts Travel Through Time

Date: 24th Apr 2017 Author: Scout Websites

April is a very busy month for 1st Farnsfield Scout Group. With school holidays, bank holidays and personal holidays it leaves hardly any time to fit Scouting events in but the group certainly have fit a lot in. Over the last two weeks of the month the group has paraded with a thousand other young people and adults through Southwell for a St Georges celebration at Southwell Minister, they’ve created Scarecrows for the Farnsfield Scarecrow Festival and camped with other Scouts on an adventure camp. It’s certainly been busy!

Most recently 1st Farnsfield Beavers, Cubs and Scouts joined hundreds of other young people at Sherbrooke Scout Campsite over the May day bank holiday weekend to take part in a time travelling themed adventure camp!

60 members of the group enjoyed numerous activities over an action packed weekend of fun including a caving simulator, climbing, go karts and, a personal favourite of the young people, Segways!

Friday night saw Cubs and Scouts descend on the campsite to setup and strike camp ready for the grand opening ceremony to kick off the celebrations. Saturday the Beavers, aged 6 to 8, joined in the fun with an activity day and sleepover! Thank you to all the adults who helped support the camp from setting up, taking down or doing the cooking – every little helps!

We cannot provide this fun and advenutre without adult support. If you think you can help visit 1stfarnsfield.org.uk/volunteer or contact Chris on 07779324341 join@1stfarnsfield.org.uk.

Scouting provides a second family to lots of young people. It’s a safe place where they can aspire and grow.'
