Scouts LOL for Red Nose

Date: 3rd Apr 2021 Author: News Editor

Farnsfield Beavers, Cubs and Scouts joined together for a Red Nose themed virtual camp at home over the Comic Relief weekend. 60 members took part in a fun filled weekend of games, activities and laughter raising just under £100 for Comic Relief.

Usually, around this time of year, the group is having weekends away with lots of activities to do – setting up tents, climbing walls and zip-lines. Since 16th March 2020 the group have been meeting virtually and for a short period in person. With the recent lockdown all weekend residentials or sleepovers have been stopped, so the group decided to host fun packed Red Nose Camp at Home virtually.

The event started with a mini welcome showing off languages from across the world. The young people then broke off into groups (Beavers, Cubs and Scouts) doing activities learning about Comic Relief and the issues they look to support. The Beavers made a water filter, Cubs designed their own international food dish and Scouts took on a global Google Maps Treasure Hunt learning about parts of the world. On the Saturday evening there was a sing-a-long and quiz to finish the night. To finish the camp the young people took on some challenges in Escaping from Mount Etna or a bit of fun with a crackerjack themed game.

Thank you to the adults that made the event possible during this lockdown. If you are interested in helping or joining the group please get in touch 1stfarnsfield.org.uk/join.
