Scouts Climbing Puzzle

Date: 28th Aug 2017 Author: Scout Websites

1st Farnsfield Scout Group is well into its summer break but before the end of term the Scout section, ages 10½ to 14, took a trip to Clip’n’Climb in Nottingham. 30 members of the section enjoyed an evening climbing a variety of climbing walls with a twist. Each climbing wall is not your conventional wall as they all have some sort of puzzle element. 30 members of the Scout section attended and had a great time learning to climb in a fun environment!

All the other sections have continued to have a busy programme. Our Cub section have recently been completing their DIY badge. As part of this they took a trip to Farnsfield allotments where they built a giant bug B&B from pallets, bricks, bamboo and plants. Our Beaver sections have been building dens, doing sports badges and also Go-Karting.

In the last month of term we’ve been celebrating our achievements with our annual review. This is where the young people of the group receive awards for their achievements plus recognition to our adult volunteers. This year was no different to usual with 50 people squeezing into our room to celebrate! At this years review we had a special presentation to our outgoing District Commissioner, Steven Tupper, who has spent five years supporting 1,400 other members in the district.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
