Rotary Support World Scout Jamboree
A Scout from Farnsfield was presented with a cheque for £500 from Southwell Rotary Club. The rotary club presented the cheque to Grace who is one of thirty six young people selected to represent Nottinghamshire Scouts and the UK at the 25th World Scout Jamboree in 2023 held in South Korea. Audley Ackermann, the President of Southwell Rotary, presented the cheque at their recent club meeting held at Southwell Golf Course.
Audley went on to explain, “The rotary club is 1.2 million people who come together to create positive, lasting change in our communities, and around the world. Grace’s trip of a lifetime will certainly make a lasting change in the world as well as inspire local young people to do their best.”
Thank you to the Southwell Rotary Club for their kind donation to Grace’s jamboree trip.
The World Scout Jamboree takes place every four years and in 2019 was in West Virginia, USA. Likened to the Olympics of Scouting in 2023 the event will be hosted by the Korean Scout Association. The two week event is attended by over 50,000 people where the focus is on a sustainable world where everyone’s welcome.
To attend the World Scout Jamboree each of the 3,000 UK participants must raise £3,600. This not only pays for their attendance but contributes towards helping young people from less developed countries.
