Happy 75th Birthday 1st Farnsfield Scout Group!

Date: 1st Feb 2018 Author: Scout Websites

1st Farnsfield Scout Group have begun celebrating 75 years of Scouting in Farnsfield during 2018 with the group having met for the first time on 14th July 1943! The Scout Group was originally joint with Bilsthorpe but with a growing population of young people Farnsfield finally had it’s own group in 1941.

The group will be marking this special year of celebration on several occasions throughout this year. It has all began with the young people designing the 75th birthday badge and the Founders Church Service at St. Michael’s Church, on February 25th. The Cubs, Beavers, and Scouts took part in designing the special 75th birthday badge which was then entered into a vote for the best designed badge. George Sissons, age 10, cleverly won the best badge design with the most votes! This was made into a real badge for the group to proudly wear on their uniforms throughout 2018. Well done George!

Later in the year the group are joining 5,000 young people and adults from across Nottinghamshire in a special camp. Over 100 members from the group aswell as Farnsfield Guides will join them to celebrate.
