Farnsfield Scouts gets bigger and better
You may have seen on the local and national news about the popularity of Scouting with there now being 618,000 members across the UK and 40 million worldwide – 5 times the population of in London!
Scouting through the ninties was on decline but has now celebrated it’s twelfth year of growth showing it is still as relevant as it was 110 years ago. It’s no different in Farnsfield. Over the last three years the group has gone from having just short of twenty members to this year now having over 100 members.
This is down to the local community supporting the group. More adults are choosing to volunteer with the Scouts but not necessarily in the traditional areas you may think. This year Farnsfield have had 5 new adult volunteers that choose to support the group: in it’s administration and management once a term and 3 new volunteers who help on evenings once a month. We do however need more support to enable young people in the village to enjoy adventure!
