Farnsfield Cubs Giant Bug B&B

Date: 1st Jul 2017 Author: Scout Websites

The Scout Group is heading into its summer break now where we can all take a holiday from the adventures of Scouting.

All sections have continued to have a busy summer terms programme. Our Cub section, ages 8 to 10½, have recently been doing their DIY badge. As part of this they took a trip to the Farnsfield allotments where they built a giant bug B&B from pallets, bricks, bamboo and plants. The Scout section, age 10½ to 14, have been on a visit to Clip’n’Climb in Nottingham where they enjoyed an evening of climbing different puzzle walls including the leap of faith! Our Beaver sections have been building dens, completing sports badges and also Go-Karting at our local scout campsite in Calverton.

In the last month of term we’ve been celebrating our achievements with our annual review. This is where the young people of the group receive awards for their achievements plus recognition for our adult volunteers. This year was no different to usual with 50 adults and young people squeezing into our village centre room to celebrate our successes! At this years review we had a special presentation to our outgoing District Commissioner, Steven Tupper, who has spent five years supporting Farnsfield Scouting and 1,400 other young people in the district.

We are always looking for new members and adult support. Do you enjoy fundraising? Can you manage our camping kit? Please contact Chris Blockley on 07779324341 or email join@1stfarnsfield.org.uk if you can help.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
