Explorer Scouts Climb High!

Date: 18th Mar 2018 Author: Scout Websites

The newly formed 1st Farnsfield Explorers, 14 to 18, has had a busy first six months since they started in the autumn term last year. During February 15 members from Farnsfield took a trip to Clip’n’Climb in Nottingham to enjoy an evening climbing with a twist. Each climbing wall is not conventional as they all have some sort of puzzle element.

They spent the evening taking on the sprint climb racing against a friend to the top where Sam, one of the Explorers, got the quickest time that month at the centre. The other challenge was the steps to heaven where they have to climb round stepping stones to about two storeys off the ground then jump off. Sarah, Assistant Leader at the unit said “Climbing the steps to heaven is a real challenge whether you’re a young person or an adult. It was a great sense of achievement when I made it to the top!”

Coming up on their programme is Burger night where the young people have to get their culinary thinking caps on and in small teams design, plan, cost and make their own burger shack recipe! After Easter they are taking on a village challenge using their local knowledge to track and find people in a real life game of Hunted.

Farnsfield Explorers are looking for new members aged 14 to 18. If you enjoy adventure and want to get involved in something locally then contact Chris for more information on 07779324341 or go to 1stfarnsfield.org.uk/join.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
