Co-op Helps Revamp Scouts Kit

The Co-op Farnsfield and it’s Co-op Members have given a surprise boost to 1st Farnsfield Scout Group’s “Mess Tent” project with a donation of £3,135 as part of the Co-op Community Scheme.

Three charities were chosen at the Co-op Farnsfield and have been receiving donations for the last twelve months. 1st Farnsfield Scout Group were one of the lucky three awarded.

Emma Bailey, Farnsfield Co-op Store Manager, said “The Co-op Community Scheme shares 1% of what Co-op members spend on own brand products and services. It’s great to see local charities like The Scouts using this to help local young people.”

The Co-op have been an active supporter of the group for the past 4 years. With the money the Co-op and its members have donated they have been able to buy new tents for 100 young people, a trailer to go on more adventures and most recently the money has purchased a new marquee.

Dani Ashwell, Scout Leader at 1st Farnsfield Scouts said “The contribution from the Co-op and its members is amazing since we first asked for help in 2016.”

Dani, went on to say “The Scouts have recently come back from a summer camp to Dorset and are now raising funds to go on an international expedition to Switzerland.”.

From all young people, adults and supporters at 1st Farnsfield we would like to thank the Co-op and its members for their contribution to help local young people gain skills for life.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
