Churchyard Tidy Up

Date: 9th Jun 2019 Author: News Editor

Farnsfield St Michael and All Angels Church yard has been given a late spring clean by 1st Farnsfield Scouts after their help was enlisted from the church. Over 20 Scouts, aged 10 to 14 spent an evening clearing leaves, weeds and moss from around the bottom of the church.

The young people have to undertake community service work as part of their Chief Scout Gold Award, the highest award in their age group. The call for help was a perfect opportunity for them to achieve their badge but also give back to the church after they recently gave the Scouts emergency use of their room to run their night.

Group Scout Leader Chris Blockley said: “The Scouts really enjoyed the challenge of being out in the church yard and are keen to carry it on in the future. The Church helped us out when we needed a room and we couldn’t refuse helping them out. We’ll be looking to do some more service later in the year!”

In total, the Scouts collected 8 sacks of weeds, moss, pine needles and leaves.
