Farnsfield Cubs Water Fun Day

Date: 6th Jul 2018 Author: Chris Blockley

Cubs from across Nottinghamshire gathered for a Cub Water Activity Fun Day on Saturday 2nd June. With nearly 30 plus members of 1st Farnsfield Cubs attending and 300 from across Nottinghamshire, it was one of the biggest water events the Cubs have attended in recent times.

Held at the newly developed Nottinghamshire Scouts Adventure Centre at Hoveringham, the day was adventure packed with loads of on, and off, water activities for the 8 to 10 ½ year olds to do.

Cubs had the chance to take part in exciting water-based activities, ranging from kayaking to sailing, to canoeing and even a chance to take an adventure on a handmade raft! They also went on a nature trail around the local lake.

Despite some inclement weather at the start of the day, it stayed dry and the Cubs enjoyed a great taste of adventure on the water.

Thank you to the adults that made it possible. If you have a skill and think you can help Farnsfield Cubs continue to offer young people every day adventure then get in touch. We can’t do this without great adult volunteers. Visit 1stfarnsfield.org.uk/volunteer to see what role might suit you or just get in contact with Chris on 07779324341 for a chat.

Scouting provides a second family to lots of young people. It’s a safe place where they can aspire and grow.'
