Young people from 1st Farnsfield Scout Group have been awarded one of the highest awards for their age group. Five young people between 8 and 14 were presented with the Chief Scout award gold and bronze during this term. The Bronze award is the highest award within the Beaver section, aged 6 to 8, and is given for achieving several challenges. These can be as simple as making their bed at home through to going away on a sleepover with others their age. The Bronze award was awarded at the groups 75th anniversary founders Day service to Gerran Windibank.
Four scouts were also awarded their Chief Scout gold award. Similarly to the bronze award it is made up of several challenge awards but of a more challenging nature. Rosie, Oscar, Harriet and James were all awarded their chief scout award by Assistant District Commissioner Fiona Green. She congratulated them on their determination to complete all nine challenges.
The Scouts’ spring programme also saw the Scouts take part in a marvel comic night where the young people had the opportunity to use their creative skills in designing their own comic strip hero’s. At the end of the term they took a trip to Red Kangaroos trampoline park in Bulwell. Coming up this term the scouts are getting out and about with the bike maintenance badge including a bike ride around the local area.
