Farnsfield young people have been deciding the future of their scout group as part of a recent £100,000 grant scheme set up by Nottinghamshire Scouts to look at improving scouting venues and headquarters. The Great Places for Great Scouting scheme is administered by young people in partnership with adult volunteers and is issuing grants ranging from £250 to £5,000.
1st Farnsfield Scouts (aged 10½ to 14) were tasked with the challenge of deciding what they could improve in their headquarters and with recent growth at the group, the storage was an obvious problem. The scouts designed how they could improve the group’s storage cupboards. Currently the equipment serves over 100 members each week; is kept over two locations and in three storage rooms. The designs from the Scouts have meant the three areas can be consolidated down to two and all be in our weekly headquarters.
Jordan Phillips, Nottinghamshire Scouts Youth Commissioner, presented the cheque £250 to the young people at the groups recent annual review.
All the young people, adults and supporters at 1st Farnsfield Scout Group would like to thank the Nottinghamshire Scouts for their contribution to continue scouting in Farnsfield.
