On Tuesday 31st January, members of the 1st Farnsfield Cub Pack took a trip to Southwell Fire Station on Newark Road Southwell as part of their Fire Safety activity badge. The Fire Fighters showed the Cubs, aged 8 to 10½, around the station and all the equipment they use to combat fires in their day to day job. This helped explain so key parts of the Fire Safety badge. The night culminated in the young people having a go with the fire hoses to understand how they work!

The Cubs would like to say a massive thank you to all the Fire Fighters who made the trip possible. Keeping a group of 8 to 10½ year olds entertained is no mean feat!

In our other three sections this term the two Beaver colonies (aged 6 to 8) have been learning about communication and also creating their own Chinese New Year dragons. Coming up the Beavers have a trip to Pets At Home and our new colony visits Farnsfield St Michaels Church. The Scout troop (aged 10½ to 14) have been completing their astronautics activity badge by designing and building a space satellite. Next term sees the group prepare for their time travelling group camp.

The scout group relies on adult volunteers to help offer the opportunity of adventure to young people. We’re looking for new helpers. If you think you can help visit 1stfarnsfield.org.uk/volunteer to see what role might suit you or call Chris on 07779324341.
